John E. Barger Jr., 91, Lakeland, Fla., passed away Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, in Lakeland, Fla. He was born Jan. 13, 1922, in Elizabeth, to John E. and Nora Mae (Watson) Barger. On July 4, 1941, he married Margaret (Mooney) who preceded him in death. He worked for Haynes International Inc. in the machine shop, retiring May 1, 1980. John was a member of the Haynes International Quarter Century Club and the American Legion. His hobbies included fishing and dancing. John was a veteran serving with the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by a daughter, Marsha (Barger) Hall and husband Mike, Mesa, Ariz.; son, John E. Barger and wife Sharon, Kokomo; granddaughter, Christine (Barger) Rowe and husband Brad, Kokomo; grandsons, Greg Hall and wife, California; and Griffin Hall and wife, San Tan Valley, Calif.; several great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Ellen Donoghue, Kokomo; brother, Richard A. Barger, Edwardsburg, Mich.; niece, Cathy (Donoghue) Smith and husband Mike; two great-nieces, Angie R. (Roe) McDaniel and husband Jeff, and Christan M. Smith; one great-nephew, Steven M. Smith and wife Mandy; several great-nieces and nephews; a special dear friend and care giver the last four years of his life, Donna Fucaloro.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret; grandson, John Robert Barger; nephew, Stephen A. Donoghue; brother-in-law, John Donoghue; and sister-in-law, Mary Jane Barger.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Galveston Cemetery in Galveston with military honors. Pastor Jeff Russell will officiate services.
