— Carolyn Jane Meyers, 78, Kokomo, passed away at 8:10 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital. Carolyn was born Dec. 4, 1934, in Kokomo, to the late Jay H. and Catherine B. Hendrix (Littler). Her marriage to Claude Meyers, who survives, was on June 5, 1951, in Greentown. They were married for 61 years.
Carolyn worked at Cuneo Press for 27 years, Stellite for 15 years, and was owner of Miami Grocery for 20 years. Carolyn loved making gifts for her family. She loved crocheting, doing jigsaw puzzles, bowling and spending time with her husband, Claude, and their dog, Buttons. One of her favorite moments in her life was going back to high school, and graduating from Kokomo High School Class of 1986, alongside her oldest grandson, Tim Driver.
Survivors include her husband, Claude Meyers; three sons, James L. Meyers, wife Nancy, Gene Meyers, wife Diana, Marshall K. Meyers, wife Sharlet; three daughters, Sharon K. Warnock, husband Don, Claudia A. Pence, husband Ron, and Catherine J. Jones, husband Duane; two sisters, Wilma Donnor, Betty Hubert; eight grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jay H. and Catherine B. Hendrix; a brother, Tom Hendrix; a grandson, Jamie Green, and a granddaughter, Beth Meyers.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Ellers Mortuary, Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St. Services will follow at 1 p.m. also at the mortuary, with Pastor Chris Reed officiating. Entombment will be at Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Carolyn’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.
