Sharon S. Holder, 72, Kokomo, passed away at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at her residence after a lengthy fight with cancer. She was born Sept. 8, 1941, in Oakford, to Walter Hale and Fern (Hill) Hale. On Nov. 17, 1962, in Oakford, she married Richard E. Holder, and he survives.
She graduated from Sharpsville High School in 1959. She had worked for Continental Steel and Kokomo-Center Schools for many years. She was a member of Crossroads Community Church. Sharon enjoyed life to its fullest and had many interests, including ceramics, gardening, traveling and home decorating. She also enjoyed spending her winters in Florida.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Richard E. Holder, Kokomo; son, Todd and wife Denise Holder, Indianapolis; son, Tim and wife Melissa Holder, Cincinnati, Ohio; brother, Paul and wife Brenda Hale, Tipton; sister, Wanda McGraw, Sharpsville; sister, Nancy and husband Jim Peters, Kokomo; four grandchildren, Ethan, Olivia, Anna and Joshua Holder.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
Sharon handled her illness with grace and dignity. Special thanks to family and friends for all their love and support. Also, big thanks to Southern Care Hospice for their loving care for Sharon.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Crossroads Community Church, 4252 S. 00 East-West, Kokomo, with Pastor Jeff Harlow officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ellers Mortuary, Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
