Thomas “Tom” McKay, 64, Kokomo, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at Wishard Memorial Hospital, Indianapolis. Tom was born July 20, 1949, in Kokomo to the late Robert and Goldie (Stricklett) McKay. On Aug. 9, 1968, Tom married his wife of 43 years, Trudy (Gaddis) McKay. Trudy passed away Oct. 13, 2011.
Tom was an automotive bodyman. He worked repairing and painting cars. He loved to watch TV, especially NASCAR and football. He was an avid Jeff Gordon and Dallas Cowboys fan. He also enjoyed his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all.
Surviving are his two daughters, Dedee and husband Daniel Wheeler, Kokomo, Amy and husband Jeff Vanover, Kokomo; grandchildren, Kendra and husband Shawn Winkle, Cody Wheeler, Bryar and wife Micah Schroeter, and Rayan Vanover; great-grandchild, Brenton McKay; stepgranddaughter, Tammy Sue and husband Glen McMasters; favorite aunt, Deloris Stricklett, Kokomo; one brother, Chris and wife Debbie McKay, Kokomo; two sisters, Theresa Fowler, Kokomo, Bobbi and husband Kenny Schmitt, Haubstadt; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Fred McKay; and one sister, Edie McElfresh.
Funeral services will be at noon Friday at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St., with the Rev. Doyle Buckner officiating. Burial will follow in Kokomo Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until noon Friday at the mortuary.
