---- — Mary Alice Harper, 90, Kokomo, died at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at Kindred Place of Kokomo, where she had been a resident for several weeks.

Born April 9, 1923, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of Roy Monroe and Inah Jane (Mc Math) Caldwell. On Jan. 6, 1978, she married Ralph Winslow, and he preceded her in death April 23, 1979. On Dec. 22, 1985, she married Everette E. Harper, and he preceded her in death Dec. 11, 1996.

Mary Alice was a 1941 graduate of Deer Creek High School and later graduated from Logansport Business College in 1945. Following her graduation, she served as a legal secretary for the law firm of Hanna, Small, Sabatini & Becker for 30 years, retiring in 1977.

She was a 50 year member and past matron of the former Carroll Chapter 475 Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Loyalty Circle of Main Street United Methodist Church and a 50-year member and past president of the Camden Womans Literary Club.

Mary Alice loved to travel, including two trips around the world and an African Safari, read, do needle work of all kinds, especially cross stitch, and other creative arts, including music. She served as church organist and directed the church choir for many years at the St. Peters Lutheran Church in Camden before moving to Kokomo.

She is survived by a son-in-law, Wade [Penny (Harper) deceased] Dick; a stepgranddaughter and husband, Michelle (Richard) Hruska; a stepgrandson, Brian Dick; and stepgreat-grandsons, Thomas R. Hruska and Joseph H. Hruska; a nephew, Pat (Beth) George, Lafayette; four nieces, Christy (Danny) McCloskey, Walton, Barbara Jo (Don) McCain, Camden, Lynnette Cummins (Norm), Pendleton, and Jane Ann Dimitt, Lafayette; six great-nephews; five great-nieces; three great-great-nieces; and three great-great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy (Curtis) George and Josephine (Bob (deceased) Wyatt and sster-in-law and brother-in-law, Ruth and Gene Ward.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Chapel, with the Rev. Nancy S. Blevins officiating. She will be laid to rest privately at Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the funeral service Saturday.
