— Phyllis Jean Miller, 79, Kokomo, died at 9:12 p.m., July 3, 2011, at her home. She was born in Howard County April 19, 1932, to Jesse and Edith (Pavey) Wright. On May 14, 1949, in Kokomo, she was married to Glen R. Miller by the Rev. Everett Nixon. Glen survives.
She attended Russiaville High School. Phyllis was a homemaker and enjoyed baby-sitting for several children through the years. Phyllis loved the Lord. She attended First Church of the Nazarene, where she enjoyed participating in church activities. The love of her life was loving her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She looked forward to her monthly outings with her friends and eating lunch with her sisters. She will be remembered for always putting others before herself.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Glen Miller; her sons, David Miller, Kokomo, Steve (Barbara) Miller, Burlington, Randy Miller, Kokomo, Tim (Mary) Miller, Bunker Hill; 11 grandchildren, Chase Miller, Janelle Miller, Justin Miller, Ryan Miller, Kevin Miller, Brad Miller, Barry Miller, Brandon Miller, Blake Miller, Stephanie (Zach) Overman, Zachary Miller; 11 great-grandchildren, Jakob, Grace, Reese, Ethan, Landon, Blake, Hudson, Maci, Miley, Lillie, Mia; three sisters, Alma Newby, New London, Thelma (Merton) Stanley, Carmel, Rosemary (George) Wisehart, Russiaville, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Reba Burgan, Carol Durr, Gertrude Waters; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Shirley and Stout Funeral Home, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with Pastors David Leeder and Stan Zurcher officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene.
