Richard L. “Hank” Hankemeier, 76, Kokomo, passed away at 7:04 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2012, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born March 8, 1936, in Kokomo, to the late Louis and Mildred (Coblentz) Hankemeier. On July 6, 1963, in Kokomo, he married Barbara (Wysong), who survives.
He retired in 1993 after 28 years of service from Delco Electronics, where he was a machine repairman.
Hank was a member of First Baptist Church, UAW Local 292, Indiana Gun Club, and was an adult leader in 4-H Horse and Pony Club for many years. He also was an avid shooter, hunter and fisherman.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Hankemeier, Kokomo; a sister and brother-in-law, Pam and Terry Shalley, Kokomo. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Lou Short and Carol Green; and one brother, Robert Hankemeier.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, 310 W. Taylor St., with Pastor Paul A. Martin officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Mausoleum. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St., and from 9 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be directed to First Baptist Church, envelopes will be provided at the mortuary Monday and Tuesday at the church. Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
