Marjorie Jane (Ulsh) Sweeten, 87, a life-long resident of Kokomo, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013. She was born Sept. 6, 1926, in Kokomo, to the late Herbert and Edith (French) Ulsh. She married Arthur Sweeten on Dec. 8, 1946, in Kokomo.
She was an excellent seamstress and was passionate about gardening and growing flowers. A charter member of Highland Park Church, Marjorie was affectionately known as the church “hugger.” She was a kind and loving spirit, and a fantastic mother who loved her children and grandchildren with exceptional sacrifice, dedication and unconditional love. While deeply missed, we know now she is protected and at peace. The world is a better place because of her life.
Marjorie is survived by her husband of 66 years, Arthur Sweeten; three children, Debra Ruedrich, Jerry (Melinda) Sweeten and Sandy (Mike) Fike; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Phyllis Clark and Janet Baker.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Highland Park Church, 516 W. Sycamore St., with Pastor Ed Vasicek officiating. Burial will follow in Kokomo Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Memorial contributions will be dedicated to youth programs at Highland Park Church. Ellers Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
