Violet Bougher, 93, Kokomo, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at her home. She was born Oct. 24, 1919, in Hazel Dell, Ill., to Josiah and Olive (Lingo) Ragon. On March 20, 1943, she married Dale Bougher, and he preceded her in death Feb. 23, 1984.
She worked at Haynes Stellite until her retirement is 1974. She loved making quilts, growing African violets, and working in her yard. She was a member of the Moose, Elks, Eagles, American Legion and the Stellar Club.
She is survived by two sons, Lowell (Joan) Bougher, Kokomo, and Larry Bougher, Kokomo; three daughters, Beverly (Bob) Slane, Logansport, Connie (Steve) Hines, Haines City, Fla., and Marilyn (John) Barnes, Kokomo; eight grandchildren, Jill (Mike) Strange, Forest, Tina Bershire, Logansport, Lea (Doug) Rappa, Winnebago, Ill., Greg (April) Hines, Chalmers, Brad Hines, Indianapolis, Michelle Barnes, Kokomo, Jenney Barnes, Kokomo, and Jeff (Jamie) Hines, Kokomo; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, John Ragon, Vandalia, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren, Danny and Annette Lombardi; two sisters, Goldia Rinehart, and Vivian Schwager; and two brothers, Hoyt Ragon, and Harold Ragon.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home. Entombment will take place in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
