---- — Paul Eugene Myers, 80, Village of Loch Lloyd, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at Kansas City Hospice House surrounded by family.
Paul was born June 17, 1933, in Indianapolis to Melvin R. Myers Sr. and Ethel Martin Myers, who both preceded him in death. He was a 1951 Eastern High School graduate and in 1954 joined the U.S. Air Force. After his wartime service he was stationed at Grandview Air Force Base in Missouri, assigned to the AACS Group. His military decorations include the Korean Service Medal and Commendation Award. In 1955, Paul married Ruby Groh of Belton, Mo., and, after his discharge that August they moved back to Greentown. He was employed at Chrysler Corp., Kokomo, for 30 years, rising to the position of general production superintendent. Paul and Ruby retired to Florida, where she preceded him in death in 1991. Later he moved to Belton, then married Norma Stevens Rettman in 1999. He was very active in the community up until his passing. Paul was also a 47-year member of Masonic Lodge No. 341 and a 30-year member of the American Legion Post No. 0317, both in Greentown.
Survivors include his wife, Norma; brother, Melvin Myers (Lorene), Lake Placid, Fla.; sisters, Marilyn Bailey (Richard), Noblesville, and Delores Brown (Max), Claypool; sons, David Myers, Village of Loch Lloyd, Mo., Anthony Myers (Roberta), Russiaville, Lyle Myers (Brenda), Gilbert, Ariz., Dustin Myers (Helen), Belton, Mo.; stepsons, Greg Rettman (Johna), Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Gary Rettman, Overland Park, Kan.; grandchildren, Tana Mathieu, Matthew Myers, Mandy Carter, Meghan Walters, Tasha Fink, Hannah Laizure, Cameron Myers, Logan House, Carissa Myers, Catrina Troja, Zach Rettman, Hannah Rettman, Madeline Rettman and Jack Rettman; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Belton Christian Church in Belton, Mo., with services following.
