Richard W. Chouinard, 79, Greentown, passed away at 2:06 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Community Howard Regional Health. He was born on Aug. 29, 1933, in Millstadt, Ill., to the late Frank and Alozia (Ketten) Chouinard. On Oct. 1, 1960, Richard married Vera M. “Molly” Prince, and they were happily married until her passing on Sept. 6, 2010. Richard served with the National Guard for a short time, attended the Independent Christian Fellowship Church in Peru and enjoyed southern gospel music. He was employed by Delco, where he worked as a radio repairman for over 38 years.
Richard is survived by his fiancé, Wilma Sprinkle; sons, Ray (Penny) Sparling and Robin (Betty) Chouinard; grandchildren, Amanda Sparling, Dwain Sparling, Shannon Hinton, Kelly Benifel, Jesse Salinas, Steven Abney and Amy Atkisson; six great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Linda Sparling and Lisa Sparling, along with several nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vera M. “Molly” Chouinard; and sons, Roscoe L. “Butch” Sparling and Clifford J. Sparling.
There will be a funeral service for Richard at 11 a.m. Friday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., Kokomo, with Brent Cohick officiating. Following the funeral service, we will be taking Richard to Greenlawn Cemetery, Greentown, where he will be laid to rest. All of Richards’s friends and family are welcome to join together for a time of visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, also at the mortuary.
