Jetta Eliza Cook, 85, Kokomo, passed away Monday, June 24, 2013, at Waterford Place Health Campus. She was born in Sharps Chapel, Tenn., on Aug. 25, 1927, to the late Callaway Keck and Avie (Walker) Keck.
Jetta married Lonnie U. Cook on June 8, 1946. She was a member of Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Sharps Chapel, Tenn., and also attended Amana Missionary Baptist Church in Kokomo.
She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, and she spoiled all children rotten. She was a constant baker and an excellent cook, and her butternut pound cake, fried apple pies and soup beans will be missed. She embroidered and quilted beautifully, adored mauve lipstick, and loved with her whole heart.
She is survived by a son, Rex A. Cook, Kokomo; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Barnett, Kokomo; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Andrew Cook and Stephanie Rahlf, Sheridan; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Melody Cook Coryell and Geoffrey Coryell, Fishers; two great-granddaughters, Amelia and Avie Coryell; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie U. Cook; her son, Renford “Tex” Cook; her parents, Callaway and Avie Keck; and four brothers and sisters, Edna Greer, Lloyd Keck, Charles Keck, and James Keck.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Cooke’s Mortuary, Maynardville, Tenn., followed by burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Sharps Chapel, Tenn. Pastor Greg Sharp will officiate. Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ellers Mortuary, Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St., and from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Cooke’s Mortuary, 220 Highway 61 E., Maynardville, Tenn.
