Walter T. McGrath Jr., 82, Kokomo, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at North Woods Commons. He was born April 8, 1931, in Chicago, Ill., to Walter T. and Marie Zeter McGrath Sr. On July 17, 1954, he married Antoinette Cale, and she preceded him in death June 29, 2012.
He graduated from CVS Tech School and was a skilled electrotyper for Cuneo Press, which relocated him to Kokomo. He eventually worked for Haynes International, where he retired from in 1993. He was a Korean War Veteran, a member of St. Joan of Arc and a proud union worker.
He is survived by daughters, Rosie (Kelly) Dollahite, Cathy (Rick) Cabeen, DeeDee (Wes) Breedlove and Chris (Steve) Wampler; five grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; one sister, Pat Bell; several nieces and nephews; and godchildren, whom he loved very much.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Antoinette McGrath; his parents; beloved grandson, Zac Dollahite; little brother, Richie McGrath; sister, Laverne Skrobuton; and brother, Billy McGrath.
There will be a Mass of Christian burial at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 3155 S. 200 W. Kokomo, with Father Mike McKinley presiding. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the church.
