She has three children, Randy, Ottawa, Canada; Michele Swisher (Jim), Portsmouth, New Hampshire; and Laren (Maggie McManus), Nyack, New York. Ritta has three grandchildren, Jascha Droll Swisher (Corrie Camalier), Washington, District of Columbia; Andrew Droll, Ottawa, Canada; and Larisa Droll, Ithaca, New York.
Ritta has maintained close relationships with her sisters, Sue Ann Hughs, Walnut Creek, California, and Margo (Bob) Brock, Greenwood, Indiana. Margo preceded her in death. Also surviving is a brother, Milton Gary (Lynn), Spring Hill, Florida. Ritta’s cousins, mainly in southern Indiana, have been a source of fun, comfort and companionship over the years, as have her nieces and nephews in Kokomo and beyond. Her niece, Sandy Droll, has assisted Ritta tremendously in her later years. Sandy is greatly appreciated for her kindness.
Ritta worked at Delco during the 1960s. After her husband’s death, she worked as a rental agent for Turtle Creek Apartments. Later she was employed at Edward Jones as administrative assistant. Ritta enjoyed being a part of the local AARP chapter.
An avid gardener, friends and neighbors looked forward to her yearly tomato harvest. Spring burst forth in a dazzling array of daffodils, followed by roses, peonies, lilies, and other beauties to mark the season.
Ritta had lived in the same home since 1955. The house was the scene of many family reunions and visits by children and grandchildren over the years.
Her body has been donated to the IU Medical School to advance medical research. The ashes will be returned at a later date, at which time a memorial service will be held in southern Indiana. Condolences may be sent to her home address. No flowers, please.
