Jeffrey Ray Martin, 58, passed away at 1:05 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014, at Seton Hospital in Lafayette. He was born the son of Billy Ray and Dixie Belle (Johnson) Martin on Feb. 16, 1956, in Kokomo. On Oct. 23, 1991, he married Lisa D. Martin, and she survives him.
After graduating high school, Jeff served his country in the Army National Guard for 12 years, he retired from Chrysler Corp. after 31 years of service, and was a member of Local 685. He loved the Bears, fishing with his grandmother Melva Johnson, camping with family and friends, and riding his Harley with his precious wife, Lisa, with whom he spent many great years together. He lived his life to the fullest and made all of his friends and family laugh often, leaving them with very special memories. He was a brother and father to all of his younger siblings, and helped raise them; he will be missed by all.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa; son, Michael Mann; daughter, Amy Moss; grandson and best-buddy, Matthew Moss; granddaughter, Kiersten Moss; son-in-law, Matt Moss; grandma, Jean Johnson; siblings, Larry Martin, Lorrie Martin, Kerry Martin, Connie Martin, Lee Ann Rehling Martin, all of Kokomo, Tammy Fernung, Anderson, and Angie (Brad) Barber, Virginia; uncle Ray and aunt Sharon Johnson, Kokomo; nephews, Jeremiah Martin, Jacob Martin, Zack Martin, Mark Ethan Martin, Mikeal Lepperall, all of Kokomo, and Ethan Barber, Virginia; niece, Kira Martin, Kokomo; great-nephews, Anthony Martin, Joe Martin, Wyatt Martin, all of Kokomo; great-nieces, Becca Martin, Kokomo; brothers-in-law, Audie Grove, Lawerence Grove, Tommy Fletcher; sisters-in-law, Carol Grove, Diane Day, and Karen Fletcher; cousins, Brian Hite, Chip Johnson, Lance Creamer, Lane Creamer, Monte Buffum, Timmy Buffum, Brad Buffum, and Lisa and Jeff Carver.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Larry “Chief” Johnson, Albert Martin; grandmother, Mae Martin; niece, Serene Lynn Martin; mother-in-law, Shirley M. Bitner; brother-in-law, Brett Grove; aunt, Barbra Buffum; and uncle, Bill Buffum.
