Donnabelle Flick, the centerpiece and rock of our family, passed into the loving hands of our Lord at 8:40 a.m. Sunday July 6, 2014. She was surrounded by her family in the last hours. Donnabelle was born to Harry Walter and Gertrude Fay (Lynch) Braden on Jan. 27, 1923, in Forest. On Dec. 10, 1943, Donnabelle married Roger Elwood Flick. Together they had three children, Roger, Sharon and Diana.
She graduated from Kokomo High School in 1942 and worked for General Motors from 1943 to 1978. She and Roger retired from GM on the same day in November 1978.
When able, she attended First Church of the Nazarene with good neighbors Dave and Donna Crousore. After moving to Wellington Assisted Living, she attended church services there most Sundays.
She was the last survivor of her immediate Braden family. One sister-in-law, Patsy Braden, survives. Roger, her adoring husband passed into Heaven on Sept. 4, 2003, and we know he dearly welcomed his “Donnie” back into his arms for the ever-after. Soon, we will all hold each other again.
Surviving family members are Roger K. and wife, Judy Flick, Sharon and husband, Mark Cooper, Diana Wheeler and John James.
Grandchildren are Renee and Rob Buttice, Rachelle and Ted Quednau, Regina Suiters and Kevin Purvis, Brandon and Jennifer Cooper, Jeremy Wheeler, Jacob and Lisa Wheeler, Sarah and Tim Steele, Gayle Wheeler, Kelsey Wheeler and Kyle Donahue, and Brittany and Matt Moloch.
Great-grandchildren are Tera and Nick Mayfield, Jon Flick and Melissa Jahn, Amber Suiters, Morgan and Lucas Nearon, Theo Quednau, Trevor Titus, Cameron Cooper, Emily Steele, Logan Hober, Brayden Steele, Emersyn Moloch, and Nash Moloch.
Great-great-grandchildren are Savanna Hamblin, Keagan Hamblin, Alex Armstrong, Addisyn Hook, and Braylee Nearon, born July 7, 2014.
She is also survived by a special lifetime friend, Dorothy LaMar.
