Richard L. Stout, 66, Bronson, Mich., passed away on Monday, July 15, 2013, at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence in Battle Creek.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Lockwood Community Church in Coldwater, Mich., with Pastor Shayne Looper officiating. The family will receive friends, prior to the service, beginning at noon. A second memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Upper Deer Creek Church in Galveston. Richard was born Aug. 14, 1946, in Elwood to Louis and Bonnie (Freeland) Stout. He married Ruth A. Harris on Sept. 20, 1974, in Marion County, Indiana.
Richard was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving honorably with the U.S. Navy. He was a police officer for the city of Bronson for 10 years, and had served as the chief of police for the past 20 years. Richard was a member of the Bronson Rotary Club and an honorary member of the Hochunk Indian Tribe in Wisconsin. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid collector of Native American artifacts.
Richard is survived by his wife, Ruth; his children, Gena Stout-Massey, Tipton, Kim (Bob) Morrisett, Kokomo, Richard Stout Jr., Kokomo, Shane Stout; Texas, P.J. Stout, Sturgis, Mich., Logan Stout and Marcus Stout, both of Bronson; his brother, Robert (Deb) Stout, Kokomo; many grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Dawn Landseadle.
