Violet Louise Wendt, 96, Logansport, passed away at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Golden Living Sycamore Village Health Care in Kokomo. Born Dec. 29, 1916, in Calhoun, Ga., she was the daughter of the late James A. and Julia A. (Ary) Woolf.
Violet was a homemaker and she also had formerly been employed at Corso’s Cleaners. Violet had been a devoted member since 1980 of the Lighthouse of Hope UPC in Logansport, where she formerly played the piano and organ.
She enjoyed sewing, reading and gardening. Violet was very proud that she finished her high school education and received her diploma in her late 70s.
Survivors include a son, Harold (Merry) Grigsby, Kokomo; daughter, June (James) McCoy, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; brother, Leander (Sandra) Woolf, Columbus, Ohio; sister, Eugina (Brady) Calvert, High Ridge, Mo.; sister-in-law, Mary A. Woolf, Westerville, Ohio; grandchildren, Dennis (Robin) McCoy, Jackson, Tenn., H. Stanley Grigsby Jr., Fort Wayne, Rebecca (Richard) Wearmouth, Independence, Iowa, Cynthia (Eric) Johnson, Effingham, Ill., Everett (Rhonda) McCoy, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Steve (Leslie) Grigsby, Royal Center, David (Elisha) Grigsby, Lafayette, and Ester (Brian) Henry, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and 20 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by spouses, Charles Grigsby, Russell Richardson and Richard Wendt; and one brother, William Woolf.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Marocco – Rans Funeral Chapel, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Joshua Bault will officiate. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Walton.
