Nancy J. (Strader) Kitts, 91, Kokomo, passed away at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Indiana University Tipton Hospital, Tipton. She was born Dec. 31, 1921, in Knoxville, Tenn., to the late Carl and Betty (Day) Strader. On Dec. 31, 1946, Nancy married Jay Kitts, and he preceded her in death Feb. 15, 1997.
She worked at Cuneo Press for over 20 years before retiring. Family was very important to Nancy, and she enjoyed spending time and cooking for them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Nancy is survived by her sons, Kenneth “Bob” Robert Strader and Clarence (Margaret) Pridemore; grandchildren, John and Katrina Pridemore, Betty and Brian Moorman, Vicky (Pridemore) and Doug Etzler, Jennie and Ty Schave, Ken and Debbie Strader, Kathi and Craig Cheatham, and Nancy and Ken Smith; 17 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Sue and Pete Pendleton, Knoxville, Tenn., Shirley Ivey, Nashville, Tenn., and Joyce Ann Dupree, Nashville, Tenn.; and brothers, Clarence Strader, Knoxville, Tenn., and Carl and Ellen Strader, Florida.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jay Kitts; a brother, Leon; sisters, Eva and Nellie; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Strader; and sister-in-law, Wanda Strader.
There will be a funeral service for Nancy at 2 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2013, at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St. The funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Ron DeGraaff. Following the funeral, we will be taking Nancy to her final resting place in Albright Cemetery. All of Nancy’s friends and family are welcome to join together for a time of visitation from noon until the time of the service on Monday, also at the mortuary.
