Raymond Steven Shiflet, 61, Elwood, died at 1:42 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2013, in Community Hospital North, Indianapolis. Born Jan. 31, 1952, in Middlesboro, Ky., he was the son of the late Thurlis Shiflet and Lois (Featherstone). On Dec. 14, 1995, in Nevada, Ind., he married Amanda Jewell (Roberts), and she survives.
He was a carpet layer. He enjoyed going fishing, hunting, motorcycling and attending gun and knife shows.
Survivors include his wife, Amanda Jewell Shiflet, Elwood; two daughters, Carla Moore, Greenwood, and Michelle Shiflet, Franklin; one stepson, Steve (Tiffany) Shuck, Greenwood; three sisters, Lynn (Paul) Irvin, Speedwell, Tenn., Pam Irvin, New Tazewell, Tenn., and Connie Clonce, New Tazewell, Tenn.; two granddaughters, Kayla Moore and Alexis Sams; three grandsons, Jeremy (Rachel) Shiflet, Jesse Moore and Jake Moore; two stepgranddaughters, Kelley Shuck and Stephanie Shuck; one stepgreat-grandson, Nathan Shuck; one stepgreat-grandson, Mason Coffman; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion, Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Thurlis Adron Shiflet Jr.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St. The Rev. Doyle Buckner will officiate. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Ellers Mortuary is handling arrangements.
