Loretta L. Phillips, 81, Peru, died at 9:14 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Dukes Memorial Hospital in Peru. She was born March 6, 1932, in Kokomo, the daughter of Charles and Gladys (Schultz) Streavel. On Nov. 26, 1950, she married Philip W. Phillips at Trinity Methodist Church in Kokomo.
Loretta was a 1950 graduate of Kokomo High School. She was a cost accountant for Delco Electronics for more than 30 years. She was known as “the egg lady” to many, having owned and operated the Egg Palace for many years with her husband. She also owned and operated 3 & 3 Quilting. She was a member of the First Friends Meeting and the New London Order of Eastern Star. Loretta enjoyed bowling, quilting, sewing and camping.
She is survived by her husband, Phil Phillips, Peru; two daughters, Diane L. Cleek and her husband Colin, Florida, Judy K. Copeland and her husband Terry, Indiana; six grandchildren, Sheila, Amber, Stacia, Cody, Andy and Jacob; two great-granddaughters, Lindsay and Isabella; and her sister-in-law, Pat Cottrel, Kokomo. She was preceded in death by her parents and two children, Gary W. Phillips and Sue Ann “Susie-Q”Phillips.
Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with Pastor Jamie Lyon officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends may call on the family from 11 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
