Doris Belle DuBois Parsons

Aug. 15, 1912 - April 25, 2013

Doris Belle DuBois Parsons, 100, went to be with her Lord at 3:38 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Dukes Hospital, Peru, after a short illness. She was born Aug. 15, 1912, to Lockwood and Grace Jones DuBois in Kokomo. She was married Oct. 30, 1938 to Donald Ward Parsons, in Kokomo, and he preceded her in death in 1994.

She lived in Peru for over 68 years and helped her husband in the running of the Golden Hills Dairy until they retired.

She was a devoted wife and loving mother and enjoyed spending time with her family. She enjoyed playing cards and games, sewing, decorating her home and reading. She enjoyed poetry, both writing her own and reading others. Her children especially loved her reading of James Whitcomb Riley poems. She enjoyed spending summer days at her trailer at Long Lake near Laketon.

She was a member of the Parkview United Methodist Church in Peru and the Abda Sunday school class. She taught Sunday school classes for 35 years and loved doing programs, including skits and plays for the church women and youth groups. She was a charter member of PEO Chapter CQ. She had a large family and many friends and was loved by all.

She is survived by one brother-in-law; one sister-in-law and many nieces and nephew; as well as numerous friends.

She will be missed by her children, Judy and Herb Bolinger, Zionsville, Barbara Parsons, Kennett Square, Pa., Becky Parsons, Peru, and David and Marcia Parsons, Goshen; five grandchildren, Jason (Dusty) Bolinger and Chris (Misty) Bolinger, Sara (Chris) Baker, Rachel (Mateo) Tenorio and Julia (Matt) Pagano; and seven great-grandchildren, Olivia, Jamison and Logan Bolinger, Max and Whitney Bolinger, Luca Pagano and Williston Tenorio.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; one sister; eight sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law; and many friends.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Parkview United Methodist Church, with viewing at 10 a.m. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru. Burial will be in Ever Rest Memorial Park.
