Deloris ‘Jean’ Graves

June 24, 1930 - April 4, 2013

— Deloris “Jean” Graves, 82, Kokomo and formerly of Russiaville, went to be with Jesus at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo. She was born June 24, 1930, in Kokomo, the daughter of the late Willy “Bill” Richard Thieke and Anna Elizabeth (Wheeler) Thieke. She married Mike Graves on Sept. 4, 1947, in Kokomo. He preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 2005.

She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Kokomo and was a homemaker. She loved to sing, listen to Christian music and, most of all, spend time with her family. She adored her grandchildren; and they will forever cherish memories of sleepovers and countless games of SKIP-BO, Old Maid and Trouble. For many years, the family gathered at her house every Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. She always greeted them with hugs, warm smiles and “I love yous.”

Survivors include her three sons, Gary (Bonnie) Graves, Kokomo, Jeff (Mary) Graves, Kokomo, and Dick (Sandy) Graves, Aliquippa, Pa.; sisters, Dorothy (Carson) Hughes, Betty Duncan, and Mary (Wayne) Linville, all of Kokomo; five grandchildren, Mykelle (Scott) Thompson-Graves, Beaver, Pa., Becky (Jeremy) Pentland, Kokomo, Jonathan (Monica) Graves, Huntington, Kimberly (Dustin) McLochlin, Bowling Green, Ohio, and Jenny (Trevor) Young, Sterling, Ill.; and eight great-grandchildren, Sam and Jack Thompson-Graves, Joshua and Andrew Pentland, Aiden, Evie, and Molly Graves, and Brixton McLochlin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Marie Sitzes; and one grandson, Michael, in infancy.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., Kokomo. Dan Bolinger will officiate. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.

Memorials may be directed to the First Assembly of God. Envelopes will be available at the mortuary. You may read the Graves obituary at www.ellersmortuary.com, where you can sign the guestbook, order flowers or share a personal message to the family.
