Wanda Imogene Little

Sept. 28, 1921 - April 8, 2013

— Wanda Imogene Little, 91, Kokomo, passed away at 1:48 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2013, in Sterling House of Kokomo. Wanda was born Sept. 28, 1921, in Frankton to Clement and Flossie (Trissel) Adams.

Much of her early life was spent with her grandparents, “Mom and Pop” Trissel and their 12 children in their Frankton home. Many happy memories and a strong sense of family were created, and those remained with Wanda throughout her life.

Wanda attended Elwood High School, but it was in Swayzee that she met her future husband, Milo E. Little. She and Milo were married April 1, 1939, in Kokomo by her father-in-law, Ralph Little. Milo preceded her in death on Aug. 27, 2001.

Wanda attended Frankton Christian Church and Trinity Methodist Church in Kokomo. More recently she enjoyed the fellowship at Calvary Baptist Church until her health declined. She served as room mother for several years while her sons attended Jefferson School.

Wanda and Milo enjoyed time spent with family and friends in various group activities that included square dancing, boating and bowling. They were able to spend time at their winter home in Venice, Fla., for 27 years. They were among the first to establish Green Acres Golf Course, and Wanda pursued the game in women’s golf leagues at both American Legion and Green Acres. Her interest in the game never waned as she enjoyed watching golf on television during later years. She also enjoyed watching basketball and loyally cheered her Pacers on with great enthusiasm. She was blessed to have a circle of lady friends who met regularly for a day of cards, board games and food. But her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She embraced each generation with the same energy, enthusiasm and love.

Survivors include her son, Doug (Trish) Little, Kokomo; granddaughters, Amy Little, Kokomo, Sara (Ralph) Little, Santa Rosa, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Little, Santa Rosa, Calif., Jaylen Little and Deztanie Gaines, Kokomo; a brother, Larry (Carolyn) Adams, Anderson; cousins, Elmira Shea, Judy (Tom) Gray, Sherry Scott, Anderson, Bill Painter, Frankton, Imogene Adams, Florida; and several other cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Robert Hacket; stepmother, Beulah Adams; her husband, Milo E. Little; a son, Jerry Little; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins.
