Robert W. Sullivan

Oct. 8, 1930 - March 11, 2013

— Robert W. Sullivan, 82, Granger, passed away at 12:15 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2013, in Emeritus at Arborwood. He was born in Mishawaka on Oct. 8, 1930, to the late Walter B. and Frances A. (Doutel) Sullivan, and remained a lifelong area resident. On June 11, 1950, in South Bend, Robert married the former Phyllis J. Harter, who survives.  

In addition to his loving wife, Phyllis, Granger, Robert is survived by daughters, Patricia A. (James) Waterman, Sharpsville, Donna C. (Walt) Snyder, Osceola, and Janet M. (John) Eubank, Mishawaka; son, William R. Sullivan, Eureka, Calif.; grandchildren, Trevor (Jessica) Eubank, Elkhart, Doug Eubank, Mishawaka, Ben Waterman, Phoenix, Ariz., Beth Waterman, Kolkata, India, Chris (Julianne) Sullivan, Williamsburg, Va., Andria (Doyle) Turner, Denver, Colo., Chad (Marcy) Sullivan, Denver, Colo., Janice (Steve) Tadevich, Osceola, and Terry Snyder, Mishawaka; as well as 10 great-grandchildren.

Robert graduated from Mishawaka High School and attended Purdue University in West Lafayette. He worked as a tool design engineer at Nibco in Elkhart for 29 years before retiring in 1993. Robert was a member of the Elkhart Moose, Michiana Steelheaders Fishing Club, National Rifle Association and Harris Prairie Church of Christ. He was also a charter captain for Sully’s Charters in New Buffalo, Mich.

Funeral services for Robert will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the Palmer Funeral Home – River Park Chapel, 2528 W. Mishawaka Ave, South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
