Janice A. Smith, 75, Kokomo, passed away at 5:53 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2013, at Golden Living Sycamore Village. She was born Nov. 23, 1937, in Tipton County, to Ralph Roscoe Mugg and Cordelia Isabel (Pool) Mugg.
She graduated from Sharpsville High School. She retired from Howard Community Hospital in 2009 after 41 years of service in housekeeping. She enjoyed spending time at the Kokomo Senior Citizens Center and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.
Survivors include a son, Stewart Emore, San Francisco; daughter, Barbara Emore, Kokomo; daughter, Tracy and husband Ralph Kauffman Jr., Royal Center; brother, Robert and wife Linda Mugg, Kokomo; sister, Ann Poe, Kokomo; sister, Phyllis Dye, Kokomo; four grandchildren, Dylan Carden, Madison Kauffman, Brittney Kauffman and Sam Hostrop; three nieces; and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., with Rev. Kevin Drane officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
