---- — Michael Joe Ridenour, 62, Kokomo, died at 12:41 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born June 23, 1951, in Kokomo, the son of Frank S. and Velda L. Ridenour. On Aug. 16, 1975, he married Johanna W. Kendall, who survives.
Mike was a 1969 graduate of Kokomo High School and a 1976 graduate of Indiana University with a B.S. in business. He was a member and past president of Kokomo Y’s Men and a member of First Friends Meeting. He served on the United Way of Howard County Allocations Committee, the Howard County Alcoholic Beverage Commission and the City of Kokomo Board of Zoning Appeals. He was a precinct committeeman for the Republican Party and served on several local political campaign committees. He was the previous owner of Kokomo Auto Parts in Kokomo and Ridenour Auto Parts in Tipton. Mike was currently employed as a district sales manager for Wix Filters.
Spending time with family and friends was more important to Mike than anything.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Kelley and Jarad Houser, Shorewood, Ill., and Jennifer and Aaron Romeril, Woodstock, Ga.; three grandchildren, Bowen and Kendall Houser and Abram Romeril; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Paula Ridenour, Pryor, Okla., Bob and Becky Ridenour, Sciotoville, Ohio, and Don and Donna Ridenour, Kokomo; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Candy and Carl Graber, Golden, Colo., Cindi and Jim Lynch, Noblesville, Rebecca and Steven Kincade, Brookhaven, Miss.; one sister-in-law, Susan Rahim and her husband Rahim Shariff, Malaysia; one brother-in-law, John Kendall and his wife Kathy, Valparaiso; 23 nieces and nephews, Matt Ridenour, Michael Ridenour, Jim Ridenour and his wife Cheryl, Pat Ridenour and his wife Kathy, Bill Ridenour and his wife Angela, T.J. Ridenour and his wife Wendy, Vic Lusardi, Jared Ridenour, Ryan Ridenour, Darin Graber, Jeremy Johnson and his wife Megan, Heather Willard, Allison Willis, Nick Lynch, Morrison Lynch, Lucas Lynch, Paris Roe, Dallas Roe, Jessica May and her husband Chris, Joe Rahim and his wife Liv, Jeff Rahim and his wife Annabie, Joe Kendall, and Shelley Ombrembowski and her husband Rich; 17 great nieces and nephews; several aunts and uncles; and many cherished friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three nephews, Eric Ridenour, Brent Graber and Chris Willard; a great nephew, Christopher Ridenour; and several aunts and uncles.
A memorial service celebrating Mike’s life will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Friends Meeting, 1801 Zartman Road, Kokomo, with son-in-law and Pastor Jarad Houser officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes & Crematory, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, and one hour prior to the memorial service Wednesday at the church.
