Janet E. Taber Leap

June 6, 1952 - March 29, 2013

— Janet E. Taber Leap, 60, Converse, passed away Friday, March 29, 2013, at her home after an illness. Jan was born June 6, 1952, in Plymouth to Raymond and Lydia (Seghetti) Tabor. On March 8, 1975, she was married in Plymouth to her husband, Roger A. Leap, Converse, who survives.

Jan was a 1970 graduate of Plymouth High School and a 1974 graduate of Ball State University, graduating summa cum laude with a degree in education. She continued her education, receiving a master’s degree from Indiana University Kokomo.

She was employed as a third-grade teacher at St. Bernard Catholic School in Marion. She later taught with Sylvan Learning Center and also did private tutoring. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Marion.

She loved animals, growing up with horses and chickens as pets. She continued her passion with a variety of pets, including her Irish setter, birds, cats, turtles, fish and rabbits. She also enjoyed gardening, home decorating and renovation. She twice toured Europe with her daughter, visiting family in Italy. She had a special love of her Italian family, including cousins, Andrea, Lynn and Dale. Jan was a fan of the Bee Gees, and she and Roger enjoyed attending classic rock concerts.

Jan was a devoted wife and mother. She is survived by her loving daughter, Kelsey L. Leap (Todd) Reust, Chicago; her son, Chad R. Leap, Kokomo; sister, Donna Rae Taber (Robert) Whitmer, Plymouth; her mother-in-law, Lois Leap, Kokomo; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law; and a niece and nephew.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and father-in-law.

Fulfilling her wishes, there will be no public services. Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth, next to her parents.
