Patricia Jo (Stoops) McCorkle, 78 of Lebanon died peacefully at 10:22 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2013, Good Friday, surrounded by her loved ones after a long and brave battle with cancer at St. Vincent Hospice. Pat was the daughter of Darrel and Athalea Stoops. She was born Aug. 16, 1934, and raised in Tipton County. She married John McCorkle in 1952. Pat worked as a beautician after graduating from Apex Beauty School.
She was an amazing seamstress and quilter. She was devoted to her family and loved by all who knew her.
Returning her love were her husband, John; daughters Dawn (Gary) Matthews, Gayle (Randy) Cowdin, and Karla (Steve) Kern; brother, Kenneth (Kathy) Stoops; sister, Sharon Stoops; grandchildren, Jeff (Tracey) Golden, Shawn (Carrie) Golden, Ryan (Elizabeth) Golden, Meghan (Matt) Larson, Bryce McQuern, Derrick (Tara) McQuern, Dan (Sarah) Cowdin, Leah (Garvin) Frantz, Adam (Erin) Clay, Josh Kern and Kaitlyn Kern; great-grandchildren, Parker, Kennedy, Maija, Sonja, Cole, Hannah and Grayson; plus almost sister, Jeanne Ott; nieces; nephews; and good friends and neighbors.
Pat was met in heaven by her parents; sister, Marilyn Stoops; granddaughter, Jamie McQuern; nephew, Michael Stoops; father-in-law, Clyde McCorkle; sister-in-law, Carolyn Mitchell; and brothers-in-law, Wayne Swails and Bob Mitchell.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Internment will be after the funeral service on Saturday at Greenlawn Cemetery in Frankfort.
Donations can be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Lymphoma/Leukemia Society. Arrangement have been entrusted to Stout & Son Funeral Home.
