Thomas K. Walker

March 14, 1961 - April 9, 2013

Thomas K. Walker 52, Kokomo, was welcomed in to the arms of Jesus Christ at 8:35 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Kindred Transitional Care, after a 20-month battle with cancer. Thomas was born March 14, 1961, to the late Keith Walker and Jo Ann (Conrad) Walker.

Tom was a 1980 graduate of Kokomo High School. He worked for the City of Kokomo, Central Garage as a mechanic for 29 years. Tom was a member of AFSCME Local 2185. He had a loving soul just like his father. He enjoyed being with his children. He had been PTO president and vice president at Elwood Haynes Middle School, and coached his son’s baseball teams from 2000 to 2008. He loved bowling, fishing and watching his son bowl his first 300 game at the age of 16. Tom’s children were his everything, and his granddaughter Aubreigh was the light of his life. Even in his final days, she always brought a smile to his face. To him, she was the most beautiful baby there ever was.

Tom also was a member of the National Hot Rod Association for 34 years. In 1979, he started driving the family race car (RAMPAGE). He was a two time track champion at IRP, an eight time track champion at BHDS, along with several other awards for racing. He followed in his father’s footsteps, always being willing to help. He was the best father there ever was. He always had a smile on his face. On April 1, Tom discovered another reason to smile. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

Survivors include a son, Seth Walker; two daughters, Tabetha Cormany and husband, Channing, and Christina Kenner and husband Jake; three sisters, Belinda Walker and husband Steve, Beth Walker, and Tammy Hipp and husband, Chris; one grandchild, Aubreigh Jo Ann Cormany; three nieces, Lindsay Hipp, Stephanie Hutton and Kylie Slone; and a long-time special friend Beth Ridgeway.

He was preceded in death by his parents Keith and Jo Ann Walker; a son, Taylor Michael Walker; and a brother, Terry Walker.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ellers Mortuary, Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday also at the mortuary, with Rev. David Chinn officiating. After the service, burial will be at noon in Springdale Cemetery in Bunker Hill.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in Tom’s memory. You are invited to read Tom’s obituary online at www.ellersmortuary.com, where you may sign the guest book, or share a personal message with the family.
