James Bradley ‘Brad’ Ramsey

James Bradley “Brad” Ramsey, 79, Tipton, went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at IU Health Tipton Hospital. He was born Feb. 13, 1933 in Sneedville, Tenn., the son of Thomas C. and Eunice (Greer) Ramsey. On Oct. 22, 1951, Brad married Betty Lou Butcher, and they shared 59 wonderful years together before she went to meet her Savior Feb. 25, 2011.

Brad was a 1986 retiree of the FMC Corp. in Tipton, and had also worked for Rulon Enterprises in Hamilton County.

He was a member of Beech Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Tipton. In his spare time, Brad enjoyed tinkering with anything and everything around the house. He was

described as a “poor man’s engineer,” being able to fix or figure a solution to any problem. He would simply “Bradify” it. He loved to visit friends, work in his garden, and spend nearly every Thursday at the Strawtown Auction and Flea Market.

Brad is survived by three sons, David and wife Judy Ramsey, Merle Ramsey and fiancee Becky, Mitch and wife Lynn Ramsey; four daughters, Judy Ramsey Digirolamo, Patty and husband Wayne Humphreys, Vickie and husband Terry Thornton, and Debbie Archer; grandchildren, Bryan, Drew, Andrea, Alisha, Jeremy, Valerie, Lacy, Aftan, Jack, Chris, Courtney, Katrina,

Isabell, Alex, Cori, Kassi, Trevor, Dennis and Devon; great-grandchildren include Shelby, Caleb, Madison Nikole, Makenzi, Madison Leah, Bailey, Clayton, Emma, Natalee and a new great-grandchild due in August; and a brother, Hugh Kyle Ramsey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Lou; three sons-in-law, Michael Cox, Anthony Digirolamo and Glen Fletcher; siblings, Della Roberts, Nana Lee Ramsey, Oscar Ramsey, Milford Ramsey and Ray Ramsey; and two grandchildren, Eric Fletcher and Bryson Cox.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Porter Funeral Home, 726 E. North St., Tipton. Calling will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Porter’s. Interment will take place at Sharpsville Cemetery. Pastors Cliff Kelley and Kevin Carr will be officiating.
