Sandra Lou (Mavrick) Westcott

— Sandra Lou (Mavrick) Westcott, 73, Tellico Village, Loudon, Tenn., beloved wife, loving mother, grandmother (Mimi), great-grandmother (Mimi 2), devoted sister and dear friend, crossed over to the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Jan. 12, 2013. Sandy was born in Peru on Dec. 8, 1939.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Christie and Donna Mae Mavrick, her infant son, Timothy, and brother, James.

Sandy is survived by her husband of 56 years, Harry; children, Kristy Schmidt (Steven), Grand Junction, Colo., Katherine Westcott-McCarthy (Thomas), San Diego, Calif., Thomas Westcott, Carmel, and Douglas Westcott (Sandi), Scottsdale, Ariz. She was Mimi to 11 grandchildren, Kiley Gonzales, Brad Westcott, Katie Schmidt, Emily Westcott, Megan McCarthy, Natalie Westcott, Riley McCarthy, Lauren Westcott, Ashley Westcott, Chloe Westcott and Leah Westcott, and Mimi 2 to two great-grandchildren, Kolbe and Mason Gonzales. She had one sister and brother-in-law, Susan (Richard) Landgrave, Peru, and three sisters-in-law, Shirley Mooney, Marion, Diana (Herb) Hand, Peru, and Jodie Mavrick, Peru. She also had numerous nieces and nephews. Sandy had three special aunts, Cleo (Mavrick) Maragos and Deanne Mavrick, both from Chicago, and Ethel Chimoures (deceased).

Sandy retired from United Presidential Life Insurance Co., Kokomo, after 25 years of service. Upon retirement, she focused much of her free time on her family, Penny, her Westie, friends and service to others. She was a choir member at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Kokomo and later at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Lenoir City, where she also was a eucharistic minister to the homebound.

Sandy was a loving and caring person who was always passionate about helping others. She was an avid volunteer and board member of the Good Neighbor Shoppe. She was a proud member of PEO, Tri Kappa sorority, belonged to several bridge and euchre clubs, a gourmet dinner group, two book clubs and a ladies golf group. She was blessed with the love and support of so many friends during her brief battle with cancer. Our mother, Mimi and wife will be missed by her family and friends.

Receiving friends will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Click Funeral Home, Tellico Village, and a funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
