Ruth Mildred ‘Millie’ Campbell

Feb. 7, 1920 - Jan. 24, 2013

Ruth Mildred Campbell, 92, late of Fort Myers Beach, Fla., and formerly of Tipton County, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, in Florida. She was born Feb. 7, 1920, to Earl M. and Mabel (Dawson) Foster. She married Charles R. Campbell on Dec. 30, 1945, and he preceded her in death on March 12, 1993.

Mildred was a bookkeeper and secretary. She was the best mother and grandmother on earth. After graduation from Sharpsville High School, she moved to Kokomo, where she attended Kokomo Business College. She worked for several insurance companies before her marriage, at which time she worked with her husband, had her family and continued to work side by side with her husband, son and daughter at Campbell Seed.

She was a member of the Normanda Christian Church, Eastern Star Sharpsville and the Rural Homemakers.

Survivors include her three children, Dr. Julie Campbell, (Wayne Johanning, deceased, Jeff Morse), Fort Myers Beach, Fla., Susie Hettmansperger (Robert), Wabash, and Charles “Scott” (Joan) Campbell, Noblesville; five grandchildren, Lori Hittle (Jeremy), Dr. Charee Condict (Dr. Kevin), Christy Conaway (Aaron), Carrie Capshaw (Lucky), Charles Ryan Campbell (Andrea); and 10 great-grandchildren, Maverick, Oliver, Raleigh Conaway, Lakin Hittle, Dallas and Parker Capshaw and Calvin, Francie and Campbell “Cami” Condict, and Charlie Campbell and baby boy Campbell coming in May. Also surviving are niece Marcia Rood (Lester), and nephews Randy Foster (Dotty), Brent Foster (Ruth) and Bill MacNeil (Barb).

She was preceded in death by a brother and sister, Gerald Foster and Bernice Foster Reese, and one niece, Jane MacNeil West (Ralph).

Mildred lived on the family farm and wintered in Fort Myers Beach until 2011, when she became a full-time Florida resident with daughter Julie. She loved Florida and her home there. Her other children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren visited often. She was always thankful for the many blessings God had given her and her family.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, where a memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m., with the Rev. Jeff Harlow and Steve Brown officiating.
