Chris Rudy Janota, 71, Kokomo, died at 9:10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at his home. He was born May 11, 1941, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Barbara (Becker) Janota Morath. On May 12, 1979, at Shiloh United Methodist Church, he married Linda L. Creason, who survives.
Chris was a 1958 graduate of Baraboo High School in Baraboo, Wis., and attended Anderson University. He was the owner and operator of Boulevard Shell Station, and drove a truck for Z&H Construction.
Chris attended Shiloh United Methodist Church. He raised horses for 20 years, and enjoyed drag racing, farming, motorcycling and snowmobiling. He was a natural-born engineer. He could build anything.
Chris is survived by his wife, Linda, Kokomo; children, Ty Janota and wife Shelly, Independence, Mo., and Brittney Janota and companion Casey Jones, Kokomo; stepchildren, Kim Maxwell, Independence, Mo., and Kay Murphy, Blue Spring, Mo.; former wife, Gloria Boruff, Blue Spring, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Christa Northup, Erin Maxwell, Ryann Carnall, Ashley Janota, Kaitlyn Murphy, Korrie Murphy, Christian Janota, Zakk Janota and Lilliana Jones; two great-grandchildren, Makenzie Carnall and Jordan Northup; brother, W. Scott Morath and companion Teri Berquist, Baraboo, Wis.; sister, Linda Abrams and husband Marty, California; in-laws, Lester and Martha Creason; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother; daughter, Tammy Janota; and granddaughter, Jessica Janota.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with Pastor Zach Washler officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
