Mary L. Critchley Russell, 98, Leesburg, Fla., a former Kokomo resident, died at 1:11 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Cornerstone Hospice in Florida. She was born, May 7, 1914, in Upland, the daughter of Burt and Corda (Teague) Ellis. On May 5, 1935, she married Richard Critchley, who preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1954. On Dec. 9, 1960, she married James Russell, who preceded her in death on July 17, 2007.
Mary was assistant manager for Szabo Foods and worked 17 years at Chrysler Corp. in Kokomo. She retired in 1976 and moved to Leesburg, Fla. She was a life member of the Women of the Moose, and from 1964 to 1965 served as deputy grand regent for the State of Indiana. From 1966 to 1965, she was appointed to serve on the International Council of the W.O.T.M. from Mooseheart, Ill. She and Zelpha Turner, now deceased, bowled and were sponsored by the Kokomo Tribune for 25 years. She served as a volunteer for the Hospice Foundation in Tavares, Fla., for 25 years. She also enjoyed crocheting.
Mary is survived by one daughter, Shirley Osborne and husband Hank, Kokomo; one son-in-law, Marty Harpold, Fishers; four grandsons, Guy Richard Osborne and wife Wendie, Tim Harpold and wife Johanna, Todd Harpold and wife Sharon, Troy Harpold; six great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, with one girl on the way in March; one dog, Koko.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; one daughter, M. Joan Harpold; and one grandson, Chad E. Osborne.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with the Rev. Will Jewsbury officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until service time on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Hospice House.
