Marjorie Ellen Sommers, 85, Converse, passed away at 4:20 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, in Converse. She was born in Hartford City on March 11, 1927, the daughter of Charles E. and Terpola Townsend Williams. Marjorie married Daniel J. Sommers at Converse United Methodist Church parsonage on July 18, 1954, and he survives.
Marjorie was a 1945 graduate of Converse High School and a graduate of Fort Wayne Beauty College. She was a homemaker and a member of the Converse United Methodist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Daniel, are her sons, Tom Sommers and wife Marcia, Fort Wayne, and Samuel Sommers and wife Beth Hall, Elkhart; a son-in-law, Randy Nelson, Marion; grandchildren, Dusty Peterson, Mande Donohue, Zachary Sommers and Travis Sommers; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Diane Nelson; and three sisters, Ruth, Gertrude and Pauline.
A service celebrating the life of Marjorie Ellen Sommers will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Converse United Methodist Church, 109 E. Wabash, with the Rev. Donald Brenneman officiating. Burial will be in Mast Cemetery, Howard County. Family and friends will gather from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
