Evelyn V. Murray, 94, Galveston, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at the Legacy at Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo. She was born Feb. 23, 1919, in Grant County to Amzie and Jessie (Stuart) Marley. On Dec. 29, 1935, in Frankfort, she married John R. Murray, who preceded her in death July 21, 2006. They were married over 70 years.
Evelyn was a homemaker. She was a member of Grace Brethren Church in Flora for many years. She loved her family dearly and was always willing to help in any way she could. She was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed her flowers and working in her yard.
She is survived by her son, Richard L. (Christine) Murray, Galveston; four grandchildren, Rebecca (Greg) Paugh, Danville, Mark R. (Jill) Murray, Walton, Miriam (Chris) Weaver, Galveston, and Andrew Murray, Kokomo; nine great-grandchildren, Joshua Murray, Peru, Matthew (Nina) Murray, Sheridan, Kristiana (Mark) Miller, Danville, Kimberly and Katelyn Paugh, Danville, Tabitha and Cami Weaver, Galveston, and Austin and Clayton Murray, Kokomo; three great-great grandsons, Paul R. Murray, Myles Miller and Noah Allison; three sisters, Ruthann Toler, South Bend, Lois Schimmel, Frankfort, and Norma Burns, Dallas, Texas; and sister-in-law, Pat Marley, Rossville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John R. Murray; two brothers; and five sisters.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Flora, with the Rev. Gerald Dooley officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Murray-Weaver Funeral Home, Galveston.
