Donald Wesley Ennis, The Villages, Fla., and Sugar Mountain, N.C., passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2013, after a long illness. Donald was born July 19, 1935, in Peru to the late Harold and Mildred Ennis.

He was a graduate of Peru High School and Indiana State University.

Donald and his wife, Annie, moved to The Villages 10 years ago from St. Petersburg. He was an avid golfer and a member of Temple Shalom in Oxford. He loved serving as the starter for the Sugar Mountain Golf Club. Donald was an ardent gardener at his North Carolina home.

Survivors include his wife, Annie; daughters, Karen (Chuck) Oldfather and Donna (Keith) Zimmer, both of Peru; son, Dr. Keith (Kim) Ennis, Kokomo; stepsons, Howard (Melissa) Behr, Seattle, Wash., and Brad Behr, The Villages, Fla. He was a loving grandfather to Brett Oldfather, Blake Oldfather, Megan Oldfather, Brendan Oldfather, Brock Oldfather, Mason Zimmer, Cody Zimmer, Kirsten Ennis, Kyle Ennis, Karsen Ennis, Liana Behr, and Simon Behr. Also surviving are sisters, Dollie Duling and Jane (Fred) Tragresser, both of Kokomo.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Betty Nolan and Patsy Berry.

A graveside service celebrating Donald’s life will take place at 1 p.m., Tuesday in Galveston Cemetery, with Pastor Gary Forbes officiating.
