---- — Jean Croll, 96, Kokomo, took her final journey Friday, June 14, 2013, after a short illness. She passed away at Waterford Place Health Campus with her son, Robert, at her side. Jean was born Dec. 10, 1916, in Gary, the daughter of William and Viola Curry. She married Robert Croll, and he preceded her in death in 1987.
Jean moved to Kokomo in 1996, where she resided until her death. She and her husband of 50 years raised four children; Robert, Carol and twins, Jack and Jerry. She was a homemaker and enjoyed being with her children.
Survivors include sons, Robert (Cindy) and Jack Croll; daughter Carol (Jon) Jepsen; grandchildren, Denise Stuckey, Carissa Miller, Ted Jepsen, Jonny Jepsen and Tim Jepsen; great-grandchildren, C.J. Stuckey, Alex Stuckey, Jessie Miller, Kelsey Miller, Cole Jepsen and Trey Jepsen.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; four sisters; husband, Robert; and son, Jerry Croll.
Jean’s family expresses their appreciation to the doctors and staff at Waterford Place Health Campus for the loving care given to her during her stay; the staff at Jefferson Manor who provided a wonderful residential atmosphere for her; and Dr. Jim Whitfield and Dr. Tom Prather who provided excellent medical care over the past 17 years. The dignity and compassion shown to Jean is deeply appreciated.
At Jean’s request, graveside services will be at noon (EST) Wednesday at Calumet Cemetery in Merrillville.
Memorial contributions in Jean’s honor may be made to Friends of Howard Haven, P.O. Box 5073, Kokomo, IN 46904-5073. Contributions will be used to purchase a Nurse Call Station for the residents of Howard Haven Residential Care Center.
