Karen Kay Wootton, 67, Kokomo, passed away at 3:08 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013, in Community Howard Regional Health. Born April 12, 1946, in Marion, she was the daughter of the late Robert Glen Newcomer and Dorothy Clarine (Haley) Newcomer. She was a 1964 graduate of Marion High School. On June 11, 1966, in Marion, she married the love of her life, Alfred Stephen “Steve” Wootton. He preceded her in death Oct. 26, 2012. She was an office manager for the office of Dr. John Gorman in Marion for over 25 years before retiring.
Survivors include one son, Jeffery Stephen Wootton; one daughter, Jana Gail Babb; one brother, James Allen Newcomer; four grandchildren, Jacob Stephen Wootton, Liam Michael Page, Sophie Morgan Page and Monte Vincent Babb; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, William Robert Newcomer and Donald Maurice Newcomer; and one sister, Ruth Eileen Newcomer.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St. Jay Sollars will officiate. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
