Donald E. Cook, 79, Frankton, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Edgewater Woods in Anderson following an extended illness.

Donald was born Nov. 16, 1933, in Moldon, Mo., to Willard and Clora (Thurman) Cook. He married Sarah (Pickering) Cook, June 17, 1950, she survives.

Don served as master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, giving two terms in Vietnam before retiring after 20 years. He was employed by the Town of Frankton as superintendent of utilities from 1987 to 1998, and then retired.

He was a member of Frankton Lions Club, serving as president from 1995 to 1996, a member of Frankton Wesleyan Church, Frankton American Legion and the Master Sergeants Association.

Donald is survived by his wife, Sarah (Pickering) Cook; children, Connie Moore, Frankton, Debbie Coons, Deland, Fla.,David (Julie) Howell, Wisconsin, Brian (Debbie) Howell, Anderson, Tammy Cullam, Alexandria, Donnie (Shanna) Cook, Englewood, Fla.,Janice Cook, Michigan; 27 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; sisters, Geneva (Don) Fennell, Tipton, and Violet Lewis, Kokomo; brothers, Earl (Marge) Cook, Oregon, Bob (Pat) Cook, Tipton, Calvin (Sharon) Cook, Florida, and Herman (Barbara) Cook, Sharpsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Clora Cook; brothers, Vernon Cook and Thurman Cook; a son, Tim Cook; and a daughter, Cindy Cook.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Harper and Dunnichay Funeral Home, Frankton.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home, Frankton, with Pastor James Williams of the Frankton Wesleyan Church officiating. Burial will take place in the K of P & I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Frankton with Elwood VFW Post #5782 and the U.S. Air Force National Guard performing military honors.
