---- — Betty Lou Gerhart, 86, Indianapolis, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014, at St. Vincent Hospital after a brief illness. She was born June 9, 1927, in Ft. Wayne, to the late Earl and Freida Carol (Patterson) Hahnert. On April 30, 1952, she married Richard Leo Gerhart, who preceded her in death.
She retired from BW Manufacturing in Kokomo. She enjoyed being involved in church activities and was a long time member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Kokomo, before moving to Indianapolis, and St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Indianapolis.
Betty’s biggest joy was her family and spending time with them. She and her husband were most proud that their daughters were all college graduates. Betty especially loved cooking for gatherings with her daughters and their families.
She is survived by three daughters, Kimberly K. “KK” Gerhart-Fritz and husband, Peter Fritz, Indianapolis, Anne R. Theohares and husband, Nick, Pendleton, and Monica J. Cochran and husband, Bill, Carmel; and five grandchildren, Kelly Fritz, Suzy Fritz, Alex Theohares, Sarah Theohares and William Cole Cochran.
The funeral service will be held at noon Monday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with the Rev. Nancy Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at the funeral home.
