Sarah Elizabeth Speicher, 102, left this Earth to celebrate with the party of her life Tuesday, May 13, 2014, her 102nd birthday.
Mrs. Speicher was born in Elwood on May 13, 1912. She was one of six children born to Gus Earl and Florence Kate (Lewis) Harris.
She married Gilbert Austin Speicher in 1943. He preceded her in death in 1986. Mrs. Speicher was a homemaker and enjoyed crafts, playing cards, helping those in need and loved her cat, Tiny Tim. As much as she enjoyed visiting with friends and family, she also was a wonderful listener. She had a unique ability to put a positive light on any situation. She attended Greentown Family Christian Church.
She is survived by two children, William A. Ross, Greentown, and Frances McMillan, Fairmount; one stepdaughter, Barbara Miller, Marion; one sister, Loretta Fitzjarrold, Marion; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by three stepchildren, Patricia Hardy, Jack Speicher and Gene Speicher; two brothers, Robert Harris and Donald Harris; two sisters, Ruthy Hardacher and Ruby Smith; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
Services are 1 p.m., Friday in Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Marion Chapel, 2722 S. Washington St., Marion. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Marion. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until services Friday at the funeral home.
