Betty Joan Brown, 87, Kokomo, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 6:53 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at her residence. Betty was born May 23, 1926, in Los Angeles, California, to the late Victor and Mabel Searles. She was married to Theodore R. Moen Sr. and then to William Brown, both preceded her in death. Betty was an active member of the Faith Community Church. She enjoyed playing Bingo, was part of the exercise group at Jefferson Manor. She loved walking on the beaches while she lived in Florida and in Michigan. Most of all she loved being around her family and friends.
Survivors include a son, Theodore R. Moen Jr.; three daughters, Patricia Sand (Art), Joanne Stephens and Diane E. Adams (Raleigh); six grandchildren, Joel Swartz, Theodore Moen III, Timothy Moen, Adam Sand, Scott Sand and Jessica Coleman; many great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
There will be a service at 2 p.m. Saturday at her church, Faith Community Church, 1480 W. Thunderbolt Ave. Peru, with one hour of visiting prior to the service. Then, at 11 a.m. Saturday there will be a service at Sunset Hills and River Rest Cemetery, 4413 Flushing Road, Flint, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Betty’s memory can be made to the church; Faith Community Church, P.O. Box 655 Peru, IN 46970.
