Wilma Jean Baldwin

Dec. 9, 1931 - July 23, 2013

Wilma Jean Baldwin, 81, Kokomo, passed away at 8:10 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013, in Kindred Transitional Care, Kokomo. Born Dec. 9, 1931, in London, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Pleasant and Ann Ward. On May 12, 1951, in London, Ky., she married Albert William Baldwin.  He preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 1972.

She worked as an in-home caretaker; also worked at Poor John’s Restaurant in Galveston, but most of her life she was a homemaker. Her greatest enjoyment was when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren stopped in to visit.  Wilma loved crossword puzzles, reading the paper every morning and visits from friends, especially Becky and Jean, in her apartment building.  She attributed her long life to the loving support of her six children, who kept close tabs on her health in her final years. In her last months, they cared for her around the clock so she would never be alone at home.  Her daughters, Karen Siebert and Kathy Moseley, were her primary caregivers until she was taken to Kindred.

She is survived by two sons, Michael (Susan) Baldwin and Bobby (Stephanie) Baldwin, all of Galveston; four daughters, Brenda (John) Daily, Kathy Moseley, Mary Ann (Robbie) Robertson and Karen Siebert, all of Kokomo. There are also grandchildren, Tracy Dotson, Jarrett (Denise) Jones, Raquel (Jason) Boos, Michelle (Eddie) Lopez, Tammy (Tom) Turley, Tommy Williams, Steven Siebert, Brent (Jo) Collins, Brian (Rachael) Spane, Michelle Olivares, Michael Baldwin, Michael Hoggins, Robert Hoggins, Chad Wright, Leslie Beall, Traci Sweezy, Chayce Baldwin, Caylob (Christina) Baldwin, Cyaleigha Baldwin-Walters, and  Cheyannah Baldwin. There are also many  great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one son-in-law, Rodney Siebert.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St., Kokomo.  Pastor Jim Ball will officiate. Cremation will follow. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
