Marilyn Jean Kohls, 87, Kokomo, passed away at 4:10 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2013, at her residence. Born Sept. 26, 1925, in Marion, she was the daughter of the late Orville Glass and Madge (Gifford) Glass. She was a 1943 graduate of Kokomo High School. On Nov. 25, 1945, in Kokomo, she married James Robert Kohls. He preceded her in death Sept. 6, 1995.
She was employed with the auditor’s, recorder’s and treasurer’s offices in Howard County.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen Beatty and Karol Kohls, both of Kokomo; one sister, Joan (David) Oliver, Miami Lakes, Fla; grandchildren, Shawn Witt, Kokomo, Kevin Witt, Greentown, John Douglas (Alissa) Beatty, Arkansas, Jason (Kristie) Beatty, Indianapolis, Justin (Laura) Beatty, Austin, Texas, Stacey Brown (Companion-Ryan Moore), Trafalgar, and Raymond (Andrea) Brown, Greenwood; two nephews, Gary Hewetson, Florida, and Jack Hewetson, South Carolina; special family friends, Chuck and Barbara Mitchell; close friend, Gerry Debard.; and her pet companion, “Annie.”
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St. Pastor Jerry Ausbrook will officiate. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary.
