Effie A. Golden, 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep Thursday, April 4, 2013, in Kokomo with her daughters, Phyllis and Donna, by her side. She was born Nov. 10, 1926, in Knoxville, Tenn., and She was well-loved by her five children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and extended family. Everyone who met her would say, “she is a very sweet lady.” She leaves behind many who will not forget her smile and happy disposition.
She enjoyed painting, spending time with family and friends, watching soap operas and traveling. After retiring from Delco in 1986, she and her husband, Clyde, were snow birds, driving their RV south for the winter to Florida and visiting friends and family along the way. They even took a trip to see the Grand Canyon.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Clyde Golden; children, David Golden, Baton Rouge, La., Phyllis Timmons, Colfax, Grayling Golden, Kokomo, and Donna Dunn, Kokomo; sisters, Genevieve Tillett, Knoxville, Rebecca Sue Haggard, Knoxville, and Martha Jane Little, Kokomo; and brother, Douglas Neal Mynatt, Knoxville.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Belle Mynatt; father, John Ross Mynatt; son, Wayne C. Golden; and brothers, Kurt Mynatt and Ken Mynatt.
A memorial service will be Sunday at Halls Chapel, 4131 E. Emory Road, Knoxville. Viewing will be from 2 to 4 p.m., with the ceremony at 4 p.m. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Fort Sumter.
