Gary D. Childers, 66, Kokomo, passed away at 1:10 a.m. Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Community Howard Regional Hospital in Kokomo. He was born March 16, 1947, in Kokomo, the son of Jesse H. and Marguerite (McKinney) Childers. On Oct. 1, 1965, in Kokomo, he married Claudia S. (Moore) Childers, who preceded him in death Jan. 24, 2003.
He retired from Delco Electronics in Kokomo and was a member of Howard Masonic Lodge #93, F.& A.M., Kokomo, and the Shriners. He served in the Army National Guard.
Surviving are a son, Scott M. and wife, Shannon Childers, Kokomo, and Craig A. Childers, Bunker Hill; and grandchildren, Jesse R. Childers, Mackenzie G. Childers, Faith Ladue and Gavin Ladue.
He was preceded in death by his parents; the love of his life his wife, Claudia; and two brothers.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston. The Rev. Art Thompson will officiate. Burial will be in Galveston Cemetery, Galveston. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston, with Masonic Rites at 7:30 p.m.
