After the Army, he laid brick for about 15 years and later farmed and hauled livestock for over 15 years. After retirement, they wintered in Texas for 18 years.

Surviving are his three sons and a daughter-in-law, Steven Miller and companion, Brenda Bambrough, both of Kokomo, Jack and Lois Miller, Amboy, Daniel Miller, Peru; eight grandchildren, Chris Miller, Royal Center, Scott Miller, Bunker Hill, Kurt Miller, Peru, Kelly Miller, Kokomo, Brian Miller, Westfield, Matthew Miller, Indianapolis, Emily Hileman, Indianapolis, and Joel Miller, Indianapolis; and several great-grandchildren.
