---- — Marjorie A. “Marge” Oakley, 85, Monticello, passed away Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at the I.U. Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. She was born Nov. 30, 1927, in Cardin, Okla., to the late Robert D. “Bob” Phelps Sr. and Bessie H. (Hardin) Phelps. On Oct. 16, 1954, in Logansport, she married William H. “Bill” Oakley. He passed away March 22, 1993.

Marge loved to shop and was a huge pet lover.

Surviving are brother, Robert D. “Bob” Phelps Jr., Monticello; nieces, Carolyn Sue “Suzy” (Mike) Ford, and Vicky (Larry) Yeakley, both of Monticello, Anna Lou McClure, Nicholasville, Ky., Cecilia Mae “C-Mae” (David) Bastin, Kokomo, and Amy D. (John) Newton, Kennewick, Wash.; nephews, Doug (Luann) Phelps, Jerry L. (Jean) Phelps, both of Monticello, Jackie “Jack” (Amy) Phelps Jr., Englewood, Ohio, Brian L. (Monica) Phelps, and Donald “Don” (Sandy) Weida, both of Monticello, James “Jim” (Joan) Phelps, Bluffton, Tommy Joe “Tom” (Susan Pfifner) Phelps, Knoxville, Tenn., and Curtis Weida, Carlisle; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; sisters-in-law, Betty Besser, and Amy Oakley, both of Kokomo, and brother-in-law, Robert “Bob” Oakley of Arizona.

Marge was preceded in death by sisters, Marie Stoker, Betty Quasbarth, and Alice Burns; brothers, Cecil and Jackie “Jack” Phelps, nephews, Chester “Chet” Burns, and John Phelps; sisters-in-law, Winnie Walkerhut, Joan Whiteman, and Irene Freeman; brothers-in-law, Henry Besser, Harry Oakley, Jr., and Orville Oakley.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home, Monticello. Celebration of life service will be at the funeral home at 3 p.m. Sunday. Burial will follow at the I.O.O.F. Riverview Cemetery in rural Monticello. Memorials may be given to the White County Food Pantry.
